Dharohar - a present

The fascination of things that interest you in the childhood usually wears out at certain point. Thankfully it didn't happen with me, I did not lose the fascination of old buildings that I saw around me while I was growing up. That, coupled with a belief that certain things that we had been given to us are not for keeps but to preserve for the times to come, made me come up with Dharohar.

In this time of rapidly changing trends and a focus in the future, Dharohar might find it challenging to survive! It might turn out to be slow and sometimes not adequately in-vogue, however it very much is the need of the hour. For slowly but steadily we are erasing our footprints in the soil of time and letting go of the precious heritage that we have been entrusted with!

However, my hope shines bright. With a little experience that I've gained throughout the years, I feel visibility is the key. The idea that gains eyeballs gets fed in turn - fed with resources as well as care. That is what we need for our heritage and its magnificence will then speak for itself. Our heritage structures and resources are charismatic enough to attract people and make a special place in their hearts provided they get a jumpstart. They can forge the identity of a place and connect people with their glorious past.

Cheers to this thought on the last day of the year 2016, hoping to better times in 2017.
